One Year Older & Wiser Too

I can't let this day go by without sending a "Happy Birthday" shout out to my dear sister Jessie. I took this picture while at our reunion last summer. Yes, that is an Indiana Jones hat (compliments of our nephew Jackson) she is wearing and doesn't she look just grand.

Maybe next time we get together we can achieve the more funky Snoop dog Huggy Bear Starsky Hutch look. Have a great day Jess!! Love you!!

April Fools! The joke is on me.

I have never been a big fan of April Fool's day. I never quite found the humor in tricking someone on a day when they expect it. I am gullible person and I will just about fall for anything so this day is extra irritating to me because I spend the day waiting to be someone's victim.
When I left work today I had to use the windshield wipers to clear my windshield of snow, yes that is right, I did say S-N-O-W. Mother Nature sure has a sick sense of humor. This winter has been extra cold and extra long and I am absolutely sick of it.
I took some pictures. One is of Emily riding her bike in the snow. Poor thing, she is so desperate to be outside. We are all anxious for sunny, warm days.

One is Silver and the Other Gold...

Growing up my mother had a Secretary in the living room that held bills and other papers in its many slots in the bottom compartment and on the upper shelves it held books. One of the books I remember was a small book given to her by her dear friend Candy. The book was about friendship. I loved looking through this small, cute book that had quaint sayings about friendship. The quote that I liked the most and remember to this day is "Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold". If I drank I'd raise a glass and toast friendship but I don't drink so I'll have a Twinkie instead. Thanks to all of my many wonderful friends. Here are some pictures, not all treasured are pictured so if you don't see your face don't feel bad. You are just not on my hard drive ;0) By the way Happy Birthday Kathy!!

The Low Down, The Skinny and All That

Well, this is all new to me. I have wanted to created a blog for quite some time now. I just never seemed to find the time. Then all of these events kept occurring in our family and I wanted to share them with my loved ones that don't live nearby. My hope is to make it easier for Grandma and Grandpa, aunts, uncles and cousins to see just how and what we are doing.

2009 promises to be a great year. In January Jordan (Boy Wonder, if you know him the term makes total sense ;0) turned 12 and was ordained a Deacon. Monte and I were so proud. He went to his first dance and shook his groove thing, just like I taught him. Those family dance offs are finally paying off! He passes the sacrament weekly and picks up fast offerings. I asked him if he would like to make cookies on the next fast Sunday to hand out to our people. From the look on his face I won't be making cookies anytime soon. I love watching fulfill his priesthood duties. I couldn't be prouder.

Miss Emily turned 9 in February. She loves getting older while I cringe and hold me breath. She seems so mature for a 9 yr old. I don't like it one bit. I asked her the other night if I could rock-a-bye her to sleep. SHE LET ME!! I was in H-E-A-V-E-N!! I now know why the baby of the family is spoiled. It is Mom's last chance to mother a small child and I savor every moment. She is so like me it is not even funny. Sometimes when I run out of patience Monte says "I'll take over, I know how to handle little Chris". I think she is a great girl and told her that if I were in her class I would want to be her friend. I eagerly waited for her response to be "I'd want to be your friend too Mom", but all I got was..."I'm not sure". Ouch!

Monte is getting busier now that the weather has broke. He is also looking forward to taking his bike out. Now that the kids are old enough to be at home by themselves we are looking forward to some short rides together. The back seat, if you can all it that, is very small so short is all I can do. I also haven't gotten the hang of not knocking helmets together. He is still Executive Secretary and has been for 5 years. It is hard to believe that we haven't "gone" to church together since Emily was 3. He does a great job at his calling and the blessings from his hard work and dedication have been unceasing. He also looks great, he has gone from a size 38 waist to a 34 and looks sharp.
